Artnodes
Artnodes is an open-access academic journal, founded in 2001 and published by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, focusing on the intersections of art, science, and technology. As of January 2025, it is published three times a year (February, June, and November), although articles are made available on a rolling basis (Online First) as they are accepted. Each issue is organized around a thematic node defined through public calls, although miscellaneous texts are occasionally included.

Node 37 (November 2025). Arts, science, technology and society as catalysts for change (Editors: Pau Alsina, Tere Badia, Andrés Burbano)
What does it mean to transform when the practices of art, science, technology, and society—from studios and laboratories to S+T+ARTS residencies—alter imaginaries, data, and institutions? What counts as impact when what is valuable is relational and situated: changes in habits, communities, prototypes that orient policies? Can we measure without flattening, evaluate without domesticating, document without erasing conflict and care? Who decides what counts—agencies, funders, the citizenry—and with what indicators? How do we sustain risk and responsibility in ecosystems where the process weighs as much as the result? Where do we situate the fertile error, failure as learning? And how do we imagine practicable—sustainable—futures where art opens questions, science contrasts, technology mediates, and society governs? This node, linked to ACTS practices within the framework of programs like S+T+ARTS, refines questions, proposes situated criteria, and invites us to think and act with ambition and humility.
