The main concepts related to the notion of symbolic power in the educational system are the cultural arbitraryy and symbolic violence, both developed in the sociological work «Reproduction…» (1970). The analytical approach is centeredfocused on the following questions: What theoretical elements are elaborated in the theoretical model of domination centeredcentred oin the category of symbolic power and what is the relationship doesof that theoretical model have with the educational system? We conclude that the foundations that establishes this dominant relationship is the ignorance of the locus of disputes between classes and groups that is in the genesis of cultural / school content. We found out that domina-tion in modern society, which is properly symbolic, has in the educational system as, the maintainer of the cultural capital, the legitimate and legitimating support of social asymmetries. Such This domination contains non-modern dominative modes (charismatic and traditional) taken from to the Weberian model, without being summed up to themas well as others.
