Ética educativa per a Occident

Main Article Content

Octavi , 1928- Fullat
Through a hermeneutic exercise of historical and philosophical interpretation, the categorical sequences of ethics are analysed with the aim of detecting the values that have arisen over the course of the long journey of Western culture. An initial review of the original core elements of European culture (The Hebrew, Greek and Roman world views) is followed by a review the Christian synthesis, as formulated in the Council of Nicea (325 AD). The author argues that Europe originated in Judaism and that Christianity crystallised thanks to Greco- Roman paganism and Hellenism. From this perspective, values cannot marginalize the weight of this tradition since the West corresponds to a history that as a historical memory becomes, a priori, an educational kind, which if forgotten may lead to grave consequences for the evolution of its culture.
