Herbart and his text on ‘pedagogical tact‘

This article offers the original text of the inaugural lecture which Johann Friedrich Herbart gave in 1802 in the University of Göttingen. The lecture was addressed to the young students of Education who began their studies that year. It also provides the first translation of the text from German into Catalan. The study of this source document enables us to add new elements in our appreciation of the legacy and influence of Herbart in the 19th and 20th centuries. The article includes the original text, its translation and some of the conclusions that can be drawn from it. A forthcoming article will include the study of the text and the context in which it was written.
