This article reports the results of a study in which 4 strategic phases to develop the competence in creating problems in future mathematics teachers were implemented: analysis of statements, variation of problems, inventing own problems, peer review and improvement of the problems created. Two classroom experiences give evidence that this process, together with the didactic reflection at each stage, results in an improvement in inventing new problems.
