Josep Carner and us

This essay enquires the reasons why Josep Carner’s poetry is usually read today according to principles very different from those it establishes. Thus, on the one hand, it gives basic guidelines for a reading of Carner suited to his poetics. On the other hand, it raises issues about the historical changes of sensibility, taste or predominant literary notions; and, about the influence that exerts on them the power of the cultural industry or the hegemonic ideologies.
