Abstract
El presente artículo analiza desde una perspectiva histórico- jurídica, la trascendencia del Real Decreto de 25 de enero de 1908 como primera norma que, en nuestro ordenamiento jurídico, incorpora de un modo sistemático la prohibición de trabajar a las mujeres por razones de seguridad y salud, en determinadas actividades consideradas especialmente peligrosas o insalubres. Junto con el análisis jurídico, el trabajo profundiza en el contexto sociocultural y en los discursos que llevaron al legislador al establecimiento de dichas prohibiciones en los inicios de la legislación social, razones que históricamente se han vinculado al hecho biológico de la maternidad.
