TRILCAT Yearbook: Studies in Translation, Reception, and Contemporary Catalan Literature]

TRILCAT Yearbook is an open access online journal, published by the Catalan Translation,
Reception and Literature Studies Group (TRILCAT) at Pompeu Fabra University. It aims to
promote and disseminate research on the relationships between contemporary Catalan
literature, translation and literary reception.

The journal has four sections:

1) “Studies”: it includes scientific articles on translation, reception and Catalan literature
2) “Editions of texts”: it makes known editions of unpublished texts (correspondence
between translators and/or authors, unpublished translations) related to translation and
reception
3) “Translation materials”: it gathers reflections on translation practice
4) “Reviews”: it collects several critical reviews on recent publications (books and
monographic journal issues) in the area of study of the TRILCAT Yearbook

The TRILCAT Yearbook has an annual frequency and is published in December.

Editorial policy

The TRILCAT Yearbook accepts academic articles, of a comparative and transnational nature,
focused on the relationship between Catalan literature and other literatures, either through
translation or reception.

The contents of the first section (“Articles”) are subject to double external peer review
evaluation.

All the contents of the journal are published online.

The journal is open access. The articles/contents of this journal are subject to a
Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-No-Derivative-Works-4.0 License,
which allows users to reproduce, distribute and publicly communicate them as long
as the original work is not modified, is not made available for commercial purposes and
the author and the journal
are acknowledged.

Publication fees

The journal does not charge fees for receiving papers, nor does it charge any fees for the
publication of its articles (article-processing charges, APC). That is why the journal has no
policy for subsidizing articles (waivers).

Ethical statement on publication and bad practices

The Editorial Board of the journal TRILCAT Yearbook fully assumes the values and principles
presented in the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (COPE),
thereby it guarantees the quality of the published materials and preserves the right to
freedom of expression, and, on the other hand, is open to incorporate any suggestions to
improve transparency in the publication stages and maintains the prerogative to
subsequently publish corrections, amendments, rectifications or excuses whenever needed.

Texts with content that promote any type of social, racial, political, sexual or religious
discrimination will not be published.

The TRILCAT Yearbook only publishes original and unpublished contributions that constitute
a real contribution to knowledge.

Any article proven to be the result of plagiarism (total or partial) will be rejected. The
TRILCAT Yearbook also considers the option of vetoing the author of the article in future
issues. By agreeing to publish in the TRILCAT Yearbook, the authors take responsibility for
the authorship and originality of what they have written. They also take responsibility for
having checked all the empirical data used and for including the authorship of all the
researchers who have contributed intellectually to the research topic.

The author of each contribution is responsible for obtaining the appropriate permissions to
partially reproduce the material (text, tables or figures) from other publications, as well as
for correctly citing its provenance.

The Journal requires authors to declare any commercial association that may involve a
conflict of interest in relation to the submitted article.

Articles that have obtained economic or financial aid to publish must have permission from
the corresponding institution.

All articles received will be subjected to a double-blind peer review process carried out by
academics and professionals of recognized prestige who are specialists in the subject
covered in the article. The evaluation will be anonymous and confidential. In the evaluation,
criteria such as the following will be taken into account: relevance and originality of the
chosen topic; rigor in the use of methodology, data analysis and the choice of sources;
capacity for argumentation and theoretical and analytical foundation; clarity in the structure;
formal and linguistic correction; and suitability of the subject to the scope of the
journal. Reviewers cannot have a conflict of interest in relation to the article’s research,
authors or funding. In no case will the evaluation be determined by commercial criteria.

Each issue of the TRILCAT Yearbook will have one or more editors, who will deal with the
reception of texts and communication with authors and evaluators.

After receiving the articles, and within a maximum period of 3 months, the editor of the
TRILCAT Yearbook will notify the author of the result of the double external evaluation,
according to which the article can be considered: 1) publishable; 2) publishable with minor
amendments; 3) publishable with significant amendments; or 4) not publishable. If the
article is considered publishable with amendments, the author will have one month to
introduce the changes indicated by the evaluators. In this case, the final publication of the
article will depend on whether the author has adapted the text taking into account the the
reviewers’ instructions.

The TRILCAT Yearbook will prioritize the publication of academic articles by external
members of its editorial committee. Whenever deemed necessary (for example when a
monographic themed issue is projected), a call for contributions will be made, which will be
disseminated through the distribution lists of departments and centers of study related to
translation and Catalan literature.
