Weakness in the Educational Theory: On Scientific Narrative in Education

Main Article Content

Conrad Vilanou i Torrano
The essay reviews the contributions to educational theory made by Professor Antoni J. Colom in recent years. It takes a look at several key moments, including the foundational weakness of educational theory, the crisis of Newtonian physics, the scientific constructions of education based on biology and the experimental method, ultimately reaching the theory of chaos as a new scientific narrative for teaching. In short, the essay sets out an alternative approach that arose forcefully in the United States in the nineties, aiming to go beyond the simplistic, linear vision of education as a relationship merely of cause and effect. In its place, it puts forward a new narrative based on the complexity of chaos theory in order to explain both the theory and practice of education, establishing high levels of coherence between the two arenas because, after all, educational narrative must always be coherent with the education being narrated.
