Main Article Content

Xavier Laudo Castillo
This paper aims to contribute to the current pedagogical reflection in respect of the recovery made by Jacques Rancière of the philosophy of education of Joseph Jacotot (1770-1840). As such, certain pedagogical, social and cultural implications of an ignorant schoolmaster are explored, as well as the possibility of the contingency of the traditional schoolmaster, i.e. whether the presence of somebody to explain the content being learnt is still necessary.
