In Chile, with the implementation of Law 21.091, which refers to quality assurance in higher education, emphasis has been placed on processes aimed at training and strengthening university faculty. In response to this, higher education institutions have generated systems through which to obtain information about the quality of the teaching staff. The objective is to have the necessary information to make decisions that make it possible to carry out improvement processes.  Thus, in a framework oriented to evaluation processes that make improvement possible, the phenomenon of teaching quality plays a fundamental role, since its definition must be constructed, at least in part, by those who actively participate in university education. In these circumstances, one of the main actors in this process is the teaching staff, who usually do not participate in the political decisions related to the processes of strengthening the work of the teaching staff. For this reason, this study seeks to understand the way in which law professors at a Chilean university represent the quality of teaching. This is done by means of a qualitative method, through an explanatory case study.
