This article presents the results of the conceptions of Chilean teachers about the role of children and youth in history, in contrast with the ideas of students about their own role. The methodology of the research takes some references from Grounded Theory. This allowed us to propose categories like: traditional, practical, critical-constructive and eclectic. This was very successful is identifying new ways to improve the teaching and learning of the students for empowerment for the changing and building of a new society.
