Abstract

This article is a reflection on how research and knowledge creation are generated by Community Education professionals, on the basis of the idea that in addressing a given problem we first have to rethink what we already know, before going on to ask ourselves new questions and then seeking information and resources with which to find new approaches in order
finally to construct our own responses. The text is articulated around three questions, which it attempts to answer: What do professional social
workers and community workers do? How is knowledge constructed in the socio-educational field? And what does it mean to say that these professionals are researchers?
