Resum

Aquest article pretén exposar i revisar en quina mesura la religió i l’espiritualitat han estat reconegudes en la formació i la pràctica del treball social al Regne Unit. Els autors faran referència a la seva pròpia investigació i publicacions per avaluar el progrés al voltant de la religió, les creences religioses i el treball social. S’han revisat les publicacions existents amb l’objectiu d’identificar les contribucions i els desenvolupaments produïts en el camp de l’espiritualitat i la pràctica del treball social. Per facilitar un context a aquest debat, s’inclouen estadístiques del cens de 2011 i algunes reflexions sobre la utilitat de la terminologia i la definició de paraules clau. Debatrem e identificarem alguns dels reptes del Regne Unit, en particular la necessitat de reconèixer la importància dels rics i diversos sistemes de creences, pràctiques culturals i tradicions dels seus ciutadans, i la necessitat de desenvolupar una pràctica que sigui culturalment sensible i inclogui la gran varietat de creences religioses i espirituals d’usuaris i professionals.
