Resum

Participation is at the root of today' s social system. Yet in order Jor it to take place, three prior conditions must exist: moti va ti on (wanting to participate); training (knowing how to participate): and organisation (being able to participate). Making reference to participation of the Gypsy people in the associative movement implies examining the motivations of Gypsy men and women to do so. At the same time, it implies examination of the training of Gypsies and the organisation inherent to their community to carry out this task, their group communication and cohesion, and associative operations. The objective of this artide is to reach conclusions on these questions from an intercultural stand point.
