Kwame Nkrumah is one of the most important figures in contemporary political and intellectual history. He led his country to independence, was a decisive actor in the independence of other African colonies, and is recognised as the main ideologue of the Pan-Africanism movement. Despite the failure of his proposals in 1963, when the Organisation of African Unity was being founded, in the year 2002 the foundation of the African Union recovered many of the intuitions of this activist and thinker. Now his figure acquires a new relevance in the 110th anniversary of his birth.
KEYWORDS: Nkrumah, Pan-Africanism.
