This article is the product of research aimed at revealingddifferent aspect related with mathematics teaching in secondary education, the characteristics of the teachers and students in Catalonia. It is a detailed study which allows us to see the deficits and inefficiency in Catalan schools, as well as the policies and practices which are successful. The study was carried out by the International University of Catalonia, under the leadership of Dr. Toni Mora, of the ADE-UIC faculty (econometric study). The part of teaching has been carried out by Dr. Salvador Vidal, Faculty of Education (UIC).
