The goal of this article is to show how to apply eye-tracking methodology to the study of conceptual maps. The article explains how to improve the research design of conceptual maps by considering how research on reading is outlined. Suggestions are provided as to how to control the variables involved to improve internal validation, and finally it is also suggested to apply the existing correlation between cognitive demand and gaze movement in research on conceptual maps.
