Using of audiovisual media to research resistant students

This paper presents a research project that aims to bring the sociology of education and the audiovisual world closer together. Applying the theoretical and methodological bases of the theories on school resistance (these theories focusing on students who do not recognize or accept school rules and values), we aim to identify students’ discourses, experiences and preferences using ethnographic techniques and audiovisual materials such as photographs, music and video); to analyse, edit and structure this information as text and video; and, finally, to present the results using Fotolog (one of the most popular social networking websites among young people, and most often unknown to secondary teachers and social researchers).
