This paper begins by considering heritage as a resource in order to propose models for managing it and, as a consequence, analyse its sustainability. It then goes on to consider the models associated with a specific use of heritage, namely tourism, in order to make the necessary links with education. Finally, we set out what we regard as the key features of the ‘educational use’ of tourist heritage, through which the central premise has shifted from heritage as a leisure resource to heritage as an educational resource.
