The project, carried out within the realm of innovative educational research, applies quality management criteria related to safety and environmental sustainability. The project promotes research by generating operative models that once applied can be submitted to quality result verification. Following this theme, the research includes aspects related to safety and environmentally sustainable procedures, art materials and product use and handling, recycling and disposal of waste materials in the Fine Arts School studios and laboratories. The outcome of this research can be distributed throughout the general art community.
In the project, we have adapted a Work Normalized Procedures (WNP) model. We have elaborated 14 WNPs for experimental application in 11 different workshops/laboratories in three Fine Arts Faculties (Barcelona, Cuenca and Valencia). These WNPs, as well as three audiovisuals based on three of the experimental WNPs, have been implemented in teaching practice in a pilot experience carried out in the first term on the academic year 2009-2010.The number of attendants who collaborated in this experience was: 211 students, 15 teachers and 10 workshop/laboratory technical experts. The Fine Arts Faculty of Barcelona’s participation can be highlighted.
The experience has allowed us to check the viability of the application of the WNP model adopted. The results we have obtained are very satisfying. The benefits of the PNTs have been shown and these benefits are directed towards the continual improvement of teaching quality and investigation. As a result we have enhanced the General Procedure (GP) which establishes the WNP model. This GP has been approved by CSSMA of Fine Arts of Barcelona. We have also created two publications and we have participated in two conferences.
