The paper proposes four micro-stylistic readings of four texts from 900, whose minimal thematic common denominator is the cause of the disgrace of poetry. In the Montale composition, the author identifies the coexistence of contradictory registers, in which high formalisation exalts prosaic content. The Sanro Penna composition explores the use of form as a decorative mask which hides disturbing elements. The lyrics of Caproni portray the inversely proportional relationship between stylistic pride and vital estrangement. The Sereeni text, however, identifies the homologies between informal lyrical solutions and the suppression of the «I».
