Main Article Content
In Uruguay, there are few experiences of news media born by and for the web and that have been able to sustain themselves in the media ecosystem beyond three or four years. Sudestada, online since May 2014, and Portal 180, online since 2008, are two examples of media that have managed to survive and remain in the media ecosystem.
This work seeks to answer the question around: what are the strategies that explain the permanence of these two media in the media system? Specifically, the research aims to: a) describe and explain the business models of selected native digital media; b) analyze the use and technological practices as well as the formats and dissemination strategies; c) Examine and distinguish the interactions of the communities of readers with the content published by the media on social networks.
