Weaving Waves és una plataforma especulativa per a estudiar genealogies compartides entre text, tèxtils i tecnologia. A causa de la naturalesa de la recerca, aquesta proposta es concep necessàriament com a parcial. El punt de partida està situat en la forma d’ona que els fils prenen en la fabricació tèxtil, i com els teixits tenen la capacitat en moltes cultures de compondre un sistema d’inscripció no fonètic i un lloc d’enunciació descentrat. L’entreteixit no lineal de l’ordit i la trama serveix tant com metàfora per a la composició de la història, com també de dispositiu generatiu sobre com es poden introduir les narratives. Autors com Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui o Walter D. Mignolo han demostrat que els teixits són una manera d’escriure sense fonètica i, com a tal, contenen narracions històriques i epistemologies divergents de les occidentals. Autors com Gary Urton han mostrat com el quipus (un dispositiu tèxtil per a escriure d’origen inca) està codificat amb un sistema de codi binari. També el teler de jacquard i els seus sistemes de targetes perforades per a produir teixits van inspirar els primers dispositius informàtics desenvolupats per Ada Lovelace i Charles Babbage. El pensament de Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung introdueix elements de disothering en aquesta empresa. L’objectiu provisional és presentar una possible recerca multidisciplinària, que podria ser un projecte part de l’especulatiu Institut de Modernitats del Sud de Siegfried Zielinski.

Lorenzo Sandoval, Artista, cineasta i curador
Treballa com a artista, cineasta i curador. Va formar part de Canine Wisdom for the Barking Dog en el Dak’art 2018. Va ser part de Miracle Workers Collective que representava a Finlàndia en la Biennal de Venècia 2019 i va mostrar Shadow Writing (Algorithm/Quipu) en la Biennal de Gotheborg el mateix any. En 2019, va presentar Shadow Writing (Fábrica Colectiva) en l’IVAM Alcoi. En 2021, va produir Industria amb Tono Vízcaino per a IVAM. Sandoval treballa actualment en el seu projecte cinematogràfic That summer of ‘22.
