From 1924 to 1930 four fragments translated from Ulysses were published in Spain in Castilian, Galician and Catalan. The reception of James Joyce’s novel was confined to those extracts and the subsequent scant reviews in the literary press. The first complete Spanish version of Ulysses appeared in 1976, half a century after the revolutionary transformations contained in the original.
