FRESH WATER ALGAE FROM DOÑANA. - The Biological Reserva of Doñana, in the lower Guadalquivir, focusses the interests of conservationists. This paper offers a list of about 300 names of freshwater algae, identified in samples collected in a non systematic way. The several lagoons behind the dunes are particulary rich, with a nannoplankton that can reach very high densities. Siderophilous elements are common. Water is rich in silica, phosphate and metals. There is a list of species, with references to the precise localities, and tables 3 to 6 show the composition of the algal communities in the main types of waters.
