A pesar de que De círculo y ceniza (1989), el primer poemario de Piedad Bonnett, ha sido considerado un libro heterogéneo, escrito a lo largo de casi una década, y con una organización caprichosa, este trabajo se propone estudiar de forma orgánica sus diferentes partes para encontrar un hilo conductor o una trama que no es tan dispersa como se presupone. Con este objetivo, aplicamos un marco teórico para abordar cuestiones estéticas como, por ejemplo, la figuración del flanêur bogotano y el universo erótico y amoroso de la poeta a la luz de pensadores como Octavio Paz o Georges Bataille.
