El presente artículo se propone explicar que la presencia animal en El pez de oro de Gamaliel Churata y El zorro de arriba y el zorro de debajo de José María Arguedas indica un marco mayor de comprensión configurado por el pensamiento amerindio. Para esto, se apoya en los estudios antropológicos sustentados en pesquisas de colectivos amazónicos, básicamente. Así, los textos citados presentan un tipo de permeabilidad máxima al ordenamiento ontológico, estético y político de lo indígena, de tal modo que cuestionarían muchos de los parámetros analíticos y constructivos del pensamiento occidental o hegemónico.
