This article aims to explain that the animal presence in Gamaliel Churata's El pez de oro and El zorro de arriba y el zorro de abajo by José María Arguedas indicates a greater framework of understanding configured by Amerindian thought. For this, it essentially relies on anthropological studies based on research by Amazonian groups. Thus, the cited texts present a type of maximum permeability to the ontological, aesthetic and political order of the indigenous in such a way that they would question many of the analytical and constructive parameters of Western or hegemonic thought.
