The article analyzes the genealogy, construction and evolution of the image on East Asia, and in particular on China, which is reflected in the "yellow peril" trope. The racism implicit in the term does not hide its direct and close relationship with geopolitics and globalization. The imaginary refers both to the regional area of East Asia and to its population established outside the area and is linked to fears and supposed threats that have sometimes been used to justify exclusionary policies and violent actions. The "yellow peril" is still in force.
