El anticlinal de Bóixols - Muntanya de Nargó: consideraciones estratigráficas y estructurales basadas en una nueva cartografía geológica (Pirineo catalán, España)

A new geological cartography of the Bóixols-Muntanya de Nargó anticline was needed to determine more about its sedimentary and structural evolution. On this basis a precise correlation was established between the Lower Cretaceous of this unit and the Roca de Narieda type section (section that contains almost all the terms of the Lower Cretaceous sedimentary cycle). To the South of Bóixols we found evidence of an ante-Albian tectonic phase which led to subsidence in the NW and emersion in the SE, with probable erosion of aptian material. On the south border of the Bóixols-Muntanya de Nargó anticline, conditioned by the Lower Cretaceous paleogeography and the ante-Albian tectonics, a complex tectonic and sedimentary evolution was produced, from the Middle Campanian, owing to various compressive episodes. We re-analysed this evolution using new data in order to determine relations with (?finicretaceous) deposits from the Santa Fe syncline located to the N of the anticline at issue. Finally, from our point of view, the Middle-Upper Eocene-Oligocene tectonics retouched and exaggerated the inherited structures.
