Computational Linguistics and Machine Translation Research and Development

In this article we briefly describe current trends in Machine Translation research and development. After a brief historical introduction, we present the two main approaches currently under investigation: Statistical MT and Example-based MT. We also discuss MT evaluation and conclude with remarks on intergrating MT into the workplace and into language pedagogy.
