Help among equals: Analysis of written experiences

This article focuses on help among equals, a mode of service-learning practice in which the educators take advantage of an existing distinction among the students to set up a relation of support. It is a proposal which offers great educational potential due to its nature as it enables academic work to be tackled and gives rise to some learning dynamics which are basic for personal and social building and growth. After all, help among equals is based on a fundamental mechanism of moral education: face-to-face relationships with colleagues. The research we present corresponds to an analysis of written experiences and has two fundamental objectives: to determine the status of help among equals in the written tradition of pedagogy, and to organise, define and characterise help among equals.
