This article is based on the premise that the moral culture of a school has a major influence on the education of its pupils. The author proposes an approach to describing the moral culture of individual schools: that is, the set of educational practices which shape the values of the institution. This system of description is based on the application of the conceptual mapping technique. It allows the various educational practices involved to be systematized and classified, and offers a starting point for individual teachers to review their own practice, and for schools to undertake a process of internal evaluation, improvement and innovation.
