Digitalitzar el que és físic: El paper evolutiu de les eines de col·laboració en el disseny participatiu ciutadà enmig de la pandèmia de COVID-19 a Seül

Aquest estudi de cas investiga com la transformació digital de la governança del disseny urbà després del brot de COVID-19 ha provocat canvis en els enfocaments del disseny participatiu ciutadà a Seül (Corea del Sud). A partir de dades empíriques de l'Oficina de Disseny Ciutadà de Seül —un programa participatiu anual iniciat pel Govern Metropolità de Seül el 2015— i entrevistes amb facilitadors i participants, l'estudi examina etnogràficament l'aparició de nous actors locals del disseny en circumstàncies com la pandèmica. La investigació posa llum sobre les diverses capacitats i funcions d'intermediació d'eines de col·laboració digital com ZoomTM i MuralTM, que no només van permetre la participació ciutadana en el disseny durant la pandèmia, sinó que també van desafiar les pràctiques establertes en el disseny participatiu impulsat per les institucions a Corea. Quan contextualitzem aquesta anàlisi en una conjuntura històrica turbulenta, l'estudi demostra l'eficàcia de l'etnografia a distància per descobrir la influència de "més-que-humans" en el disseny participatiu dins del singular entorn sociocultural de Corea del Sud.

Oxana Jeoung-Raiova és doctoranda al Departament d’Antropologia de la Seoul National University. La seva investigació se centra en el disseny participatiu i la relació que té amb la vida social i política a la Corea del Sud contemporània, enriquida per més de deu anys d’experiència professional en la indústria coreana del disseny. Els resultats dels seus projectes d’antropologia aplicada han estat guardonats amb l’IF Design Award, el German Design Award, el Good Design Award (Corea) i el Web-Award Korea, entre altres.
