In this digital context, issue 131 of Revista CIDOB d'Afers Internacionals seeks to apply in-depth study to the digitalisation process facing the European Union and addresses the issue coherently from a multidisciplinary perspective. Focusing on the fields of digital development that will be crucial in the near future, this monograph features contributions by prestigious international authors in the selected research areas. It is an issue of great relevance, as the model of society we have known metamorphoses, and its digitalisation accelerates following the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding and promoting the right kind of digital development is, therefore, an urgent priority for the EU, its companies and its citizens, in particular – as it is for the international community as a whole.
