Objective: The objective of this article is to expose and discuss the concepts of gender stereotypes and gender bias applied to the characterization of some psychopathological disorders according to DSM V, specifically histrionic and antisocial personality disorders.

Methodology: A descriptive study is carried out based on the bibliographic review of the literature on gender stereotypes and mental health, belonging to the gender chair at the Central University Marta Abreu from Las Villas.

Results: It is illustrated from the antisocial and histrionic personality disorders how the diagnostic criteria coincide with cultural constructions for one or the gender, showing possible biases contained in the classifiers. The results show the coincidence of diagnostic criteria for histrionic personality disorders with traditional attributions about the feminine and antisocial personality disorder with traditional social constructions of the masculine.

Conclusions: Reflects on the need for a paradigm shift that allows the construction of a body of knowledge and a more objective and inclusive healthcare service, as well as a fairer and more equitable health system.
