The article examines some of the most relevant contributions made to the fight against Franco by Catalan society’s artistic sphere, especially during the final years of the dictatorship. It delves into the relationships between artistic practices, aesthetic ideologies and socio-political dynamics. It also describes the internal transformations that took place in the art field during the post-Franco transitional period, which were conditioned by both the process of political change and the new prevailing cultural currents of global capitalism.
