The Gaudinio fragilis-Arrhenatheretum elatioris Br.-Bl. 1931 coastal hay meadows are a very interesting natural habitat because they are the only environment in which several taxa very rare in Catalonia can grow. The hygrophile species that grow in the meadows of the Selva plain are listed and the need to maintain these meadows in order to preserve the floristic diversity of the area is stressed.
