This paper discusses the experience of indigenous students of the Federal
University of Western Pará, Brazil, considering their perceptions and memories
and the implementations of affirmative actions at the institution. Remarkably,
the entry of indigenous people to academic institutions has raised several challenges for universities, involving curricular, administrative and cultural changes,
and has prompted a rethinking of teaching-learning structures and knowledge
production.
