Aimé Césaire: consciència de la negritud

El centenari del naixement d’Aimé Césaire és l’ocasió per commemorar el pensament d’un dels fundadors de la Negritud. Autor d’una obra literària de gran bellesa i d’una activitat política fortament compromesa, Césaire ha estat el gran defensor del reconeixement de la identitat dels pobles negres que, més enllà de les conjuntures de la història, comparteixen el fet d’haver estat oprimits per un Occident que, com diu un dels seus versos, “s’ha enlairat sobre el més alt feix de cadàvers de la humanitat”.

ABSTRACT: The centenary of Aimé Césaire’s birth is the occasion to commemorate the thought of one the founders of Négritude. Author of literary work with great beauty and with a strongly committed political activity, Césaire has been the great advocate of recognizing the identity of black peoples who, beyond the circumstances of history, share the fact of having been oppressed by the Western civilization that, as he expresses in one of his poems, “is responsible before the human community for the highest heap of corpses in history.”
