The perimeter of the walls which defended the medieval town of Figueres is still a little studied subject. The discovery of archaeological remains during recent urban development constructions has led to review its study. Here we propose a hypothesis of the existence of three walled enclosures successive in time. The first two and less known, were prior to the decision of King James I to establish the limits of the town's new circuit with the granting of the Town Charter. The third, consequence of this letter of privileges, can still be detected in the city's urban topography today.
