L’article tracta sobre el teatre en la pedagogia de Philipp Melanchthon, principalment a partir del material extret dels seus prefacis i comentaris a les publicacions de Terenci entre 1517–1519, 1524–1528 i 1545, les apareixen recurrentment al llarg de gairebé tota la seva carrera. Malgrat l’existència d’un nombre significatiu de publicacions científiques que exploren aquestes fonts en diversos contextos (l’ètica de Melanchthon, les seves idees sobre el drama antic, etc.), l’article se centra en la idea de Melanchthon al voltant del teatre com a pràctica pedagògica. L’anàlisi de les fonts suggereix que Melanchthon rarament diferenciava els discursos sobre teatre i drama, referint-se per igual a les seves funcions educatives i formatives. Tot i estar lluny d’una expressió específica de les funcions educatives del teatre, la pràctica de la posada en escena queda integrada en la seva obra i mètode com una pràctica educativa. Restaurar l’aspecte performatiu en el pensament de Melanchthon esdevé decisiu no només per a una comprensió històrica de l’educació en general, sinó també de la pedagogia teatral de la primera modernitat.

Zinaida A. Lurie, Leningrad State University

Zinaida Lurie is Doctor of History, specialized in cultural history of the Reformation era. Her doctoral dissertation was devoted to evangelical theater of the Reformation era, while in recent years she has written about education and catechization of the period. She works at Leningrad State University named after A. S. Pushkin (assistant professor).
