"La salvació ve dels jueus" (Jn 4,22). Un model soteriológic diferent

This contribution seeks to identify the meaning of the terminology relatedto salvation (to save, salvation, saviour) by means of an analysis of the useof these words in the Fourth Gospel. This leads to a consideration of otherJohannine terms, namely those belonging to the root eleuth- (freedom).There follows a reflection on the interpretation of salvation and savingwithin first century Judaism. The study closes by highlighting the newnessof the soteriology of the 4th Gospel, a newness that does not break, however,with the fundamental core of the Old Testament: the People of God of theexodus is opened up to the whole of humanity.
