Reflections on bilingual phraseography: Spanish-German, German-Spanish and Catalan-German

This article deals with questions related to bilingual phraseography (language pairs: Spanish-German, German-Spanish and Catalan-German). The author draws primarily on the experience gained from the production of two voluminous works: the Spanischdeutsches Wörterbuch der Redewendungen and the Phraseologisches Wörterbuch Katalanisch-Deutsch. Among other things, the article discusses the basic orientation that a dictionary has or should have; it also considers it important to work with authentic texts to list the examples, to know how to use typographical solutions to convey unique information
and not to leave out a definiens or the complete translation of the examples.
