Aquest article analitza l'evolució històrica de Qatar des de la perspectiva teòrica d'Estat-base, en virtut de la instal·lació d'Al-Udeid, la seva importància geoestratègica i les conseqüències nacionals per a Qatar com a possible Estat-base. En particular, l'anàlisi s'atura a l'estudi de la crisi del bloqueig a Qatar el 2017. La presència en territori qatarià de la base militar nord-americana d'Al-Udeid, no només ha suposat un element de seguretat i independència per al país, sinó també una clau geopolítica i geoestratègica per als Estats Units.
