This paper presents the procedures for the adaptation of the General Estoria (GE) of Alfonso the 10th in the electronic corpus Biblia Medieval. This process involves great challenges, given the textual complexity of the Estoria and the design of the corpus. First, it is necessary to identify the verses translated directly from the Vulgate. Secondly, these translated verses have to be adjusted in accord with those of the rest of the parallel corpus. Such an adaptation constitutes a philological exercise of great complexity whose importance rests on the enormous significance of the GE in medieval literature. The adaptation contributes not only to the philological study of the text and its relations with other Iberian vernacular Bibles, but also to our knowledge of peninsular linguistic variants in the Middle Ages. In short, the inclusion of the GE in Biblia Medieval is a good example of the design possibilities that electronic corpora entail, beyond the inclusion of the texts in a database.
