This essay aims to revisit the path traced by the poet Delmira Agustini (1886-1914) in dialogue with Rubén Darío’s poetic proposal in order to emphasize just how the symbols of Modernism were reinterpreted, even outnumbered, by the Uruguayan. Thus, the poet undertook the path to a subversive representation of women’s desire at the beginning of the 20th century.
