A Más allá de la cultura y naturaleza, Phillippe Descola considera que la dicotomia natura-cultura és pròpia d’Occident i que emergeix en els preludis de la modernitat. El seu anàlisi ens ha permès repensar aquesta antítesi a Octavio Paz. A partir d’aquesta premissa i tenint en compte les apreciacions que es troben a El arco y la lira, revisem les vessants que dissenyen la categoria de natura a Libertad bajo palabra i reflexionem sobre els matisos que adquireixen tant el jardí i el paisatge com les estratègies que formulen aquests espais en quant a recintes on s’intenta conciliar natura i cultura.
