Este artículo propone una lectura de la narrativa de la escritora chilena Nona Fernández, sostenida desde una constante histórico y memorial. Desde ahí, configura un entramado complejo, erigiendo una espacialidad atravesada por diversos residuos: materiales y corporales, letrados e imaginarios. Este cruce configura lo residual como gesto político que problematiza cualquier triunfo posible de la modernidad. El análisis se centrará, primero, en la novela Mapocho, segundo, en las novelas Av. 10 de Julio Huamachuco y Chilean electric, tercero, en la trilogía de la memoria y la dictadura.
